Ready for a classic comedy? Playwright David Ives puts his 21st century spin on Moliere’s 17th century hit The Misanthrope in The School for Lies, which opens on May 1 at Classic Stage Company. Director Walter Bobbie has assembled a top-drawer cast, including Hamish Linklater, Mamie Gummer, Jenn Gambatese and Alison Fraser, for this rollicking comedy, performed in verse, as in Moliere’s day. Take a look at Joan Marcus’ sumptuous production shots, featuring William Ivey Long’s period-perfect costumes, then see the show at CSC.
